Keeper & Kin

Why This is important
Virtual Coaching is KEY for Former Research Dogs
Behavioral modification is inherently relational. In-person training establishes a bond between the trainer and your dog — not between you and your dog. Former research beagles, who are especially sensitive to handler consistency and learned associations, may start to trust a skilled trainer but they'll revert to previous behaviors once that handler is no longer present. The relationship never transferred to you.
For lasting behavioral change, your dog needs to develop that trust and bond with YOU!
Thats why virtual coaching and training is more effective.

Our Experience
What Makes Virtual Training Different
Your Dog Builds Trust With the Person Who Matters Most
Former research dogs are learning how to move through a world they were never prepared for. They need to feel safe with the person feeding them, walking them, handling them, driving them, introducing them to new things, and helping them through daily life.
When you are the one doing the work, your dog is learning that you are predictable, safe, helpful, and worth following when things feel uncertain.
For former research dogs, the most important bond they build should be with their adopter or foster, not with a professional who visits for an hour and leaves.
We Coach You Instead of Doing It Ourselves
Dogs recognize trainers near-perfect timing, clear communication, and set expectations from the start. This is why so many dogs appear to “do better” for the trainer.
A trainer can walk in and get a few behaviors to happen. But once that trainer leaves, your dog still lives with you. The car rides, the visitors, the stairs, the handling, the walks, and the daily decisions all happen with you.
That means the skills need to belong to you.
We See Your Dog’s Natural Behavior
When a dog trainer comes into your home, your dog may bark, hide, freeze, act differently, or become soooooo excited that the session becomes about managing their emotions.
Virtual sessions allow us to observe your dog in their real environment, with their real people, during the real moments that matter. Then we coach you through what to do, what to change, how to respond, without adding another unfamiliar person into your dog’s already overwhelming world.
For many of these dogs, that is not just more convenient. It is more humane.
